anthropologie display designers {colour hero}

Is there a blog somewhere devoted to Anthropologie windows and displays? If not, there should be! The creativity, attention to detail and sheer awesomeness of Anthropologie store displays never ceases to amaze me. It is refreshing and inspiring to see a company make design and craftsmanship by hand a priority. Yep, “Antropologie window designer” is definitely one of my dream jobs. I particularly love the focus on using recycled items. Case in point? The fantastic origami-inspired Summer 2011 windows created with old envelopes or the bold geometry of colourfully painted recycled planks. Anthropologie’s Spring 2011 windows were created with the over five million corks collected at stores. The gorgeous displays brought attention to the Cork Forest Conservation Alliance, recycling and Earth Day. Bottle caps, wire hangers, clothes pins – one person’s trash is another person’s stunning window by Anthropologie! The last photo shown is one I snapped at the Rockefeller Centre location in New York. Even sale jewellery has a background of gorgeous roses made with recycled paper. This post could honestly include hundreds of photos showcasing the brilliance of Anthropologie window display designers but I had to cut myself off! They are true creative and colour heroes. Perhaps there needs to be a ‘part two’ devoted to this topic?

How many of us just stand outside those gorgeous windows, season after season, and sigh? I don’t buy, but I love to visit. The windows are amazing; the interior displays creative and enticing; the merchandising of the home goods area makes me want to buy it all. Great pics, Chloe!

Laure: okay, you have inspired me to make part two happen one of these days! I feel like I could post hundreds more… Anthropologie should really publish a book!

Rose: yep, I have stood there and sighed with happiness too. It feels like an art installation/gallery that just happens to sell items!

Thanks for the comments! I knew I wasn’t alone in the Anthropologie display passion :)

They do do such a great job with their window displays. What clever things they do with simple everyday materials. Le sigh. How much do you think those displays help their sales?

Thanks rooth and Suzanne! Yes, the everyday materials and recycled elements are my favourite! So inspiring to think of what you can make just from your recycling bin… I imagine the displays help their sales tremendously as it makes the shop a design destination whether you are looking to buy or not!

Can we have seconds and thirds and fourths… and so on?!! I’m an Anthro addict. I gain a lot of creative juice from visiting their stores and usually spend at least two hours in them at a time. I’m not there to look at the product so much as the displays. I am enthralled with found object design, upcycling, and the like and think Anthro is absolutely enchanting. Best of the best!! THANK YOU for putting this together!

I should have also said that I blogged a bit about Anthropologie, if you’re interested in some more pictures. :-)

Thanks Sherri! I always love seeing photos of Anthropologie creations so I plan on checking out your blog asap! I too am enthralled by the upcycling and found object element of their windows and instore displays. Oh what you can do with some recycling and a little hard work. Seconds and maybe even thirds are definitely coming!

Thank you so much for these!! Honestly, I constantly am looking up the Anthropologie window displays, and trying to find more, but its hard to find so many shots as good as yours in one place! (and featuring some of the more unusual displays) Thanks again!

Amazing! Even one of my dream job too, if not a job I would definitely love to be a part of the window design team to see and learn.
Just go Speechless every-time I see them. :)

I have always admired and been inspired by the window displays at Anthropologie. I find myself just wondering around their store, taking pictures, making sketches and focusing on the details of all the ways items are displayed in such an artful way. Extremely creative. Attention to detail is incredible! Keep posting pictures!

One of my dream jobs! What kind of degree do you have to have to get to do this for a living?!
